What to Expect in September At Beaver Run and Breckenridge

Changing colors. Fall’s arrival. Fun Festivals. September in Breckenridge is one of the most beautiful times of the year for a visit. Golden aspen leaves remind us that every season is fleeting. Now is the time to grab those precious moments with family and friends on a vacation in Breckenridge. Beaver Run Resort is the perfect place to enjoy the last of summer and the first of autumn.

September means fall: crisper days and yellow aspen leaves. While some days may feel like summer, there’s no denying that winter is on the way. Early season snow may dust the high peaks, evenings become chilly, and those aspen trees – what a show they put on!

With Breckenridge’s high elevation, leaves start changing color around mid-September, much earlier than the rest of the country. That high elevation also limits the kinds of deciduous trees that grow here, with aspen trees taking the leading role. Vibrant yellow leaves look like the gold that Breckenridge was founded on over 160-years ago.

Golden aspens contrasted with our deep blue skies and a touch of snow on the peaks, it’s jaw-dropping gorgeous around here most of the month. Combine the inspiring scenery with cool days, low humidity and warm sunshine, September may be one of the best times to visit Breckenridge.

Plan your packing to make the most of layers. Shorts and tees may be fine in the middle of the day. Long sleeves, a sweater, long pants, and closed-toe shoes will be welcome mornings and evenings. September’s weather is variable with anything from sunshine to rain to snow. While it is one of Breckenridge’s drier months, September visits call for a weather-resistant jacket and a warmer hat.

The sun is still strong in September so be sure to bring a sun hat, sunscreen and shades. The Skywalk Market at Beaver Run stocks a wide variety of necessities in case you forgot something.

Summer activities typically continue into September. Favorite activities like hiking and biking are enhanced by the sun-warmed glow of golden aspen trees surrounding the trails. Other favorites like golf, fly fishing, horseback riding, scenic drives, jeep and ATV tours are also available. Advance reservations are recommended to be sure to get the times that work with your schedule.

Beaver Run’s pools, hot tubs, arcade room, hiking trails, restaurants and shops remain open for your September visit as well.

Activities that may not be available in September after Labor Day include ziplining and other Epic offerings at the Breckenridge Ski Area, gold panning, summer dog sledding, and river rafting.

Favorite year-round Breckenridge activities carry on in September like shopping, dining, movies, art galleries, escape rooms, history tours, even indoor ice skating. Weekends can be busy in September, so dining reservations are highly recommended. Be sure to include Spencer’s Steaks & Spirits, here at Beaver Run Resort, on your reservation list.

As if Breckenridge weren’t fun enough, the community ramps up the fall festivals. Visitors and locals alike look forward to the Breckenridge Festival of Film and Oktoberfest. BreckFilm brings creatives and their audiences together with screenings and parties the third weekend of September. Oktoberfest transforms Main Street to Munich with food, beer, music, polka dancing, entertainment, and more beer. Pack your lederhosen and dirndls for this event held in the middle of the month.

If it sounds like we’re gushing about September, that’s because we are. It’s hard to beat a Breckenridge vacation in September with the stunning scenery, beautiful weather, and fun activities and events. Come stay with us at Beaver Run Resort and see for yourself.
